$60 for 60 years of Nursing Excellence

In May, 2016, we hosted many of our alumni and friends on campus and in Boise to celebrate 60 years of educating nurse leaders at ISU. We had a wonderful time celebrating and reconnecting with classmates and faculty, and we all came away with a desire to do more and help nursing students. The goal for all nursing alumni and friends is to raise $60,000 in 60 days! If each or our 2,770 alumni donated just $60 to this effort, we would raise more $166,000. Each gift received during this campaign will be dedicated to scholarships for ISU nursing students.

Today, students are experiencing increased competition for available scholarship dollars and student loans often become the only solution to pay for education. Join fellow alumni and ISU faculty as they help reduce financial barriers to education and increase scholarship awards for deserving students.

Your gift will ensure that the legacy of the ISU School of Nursing continues and provide scholarships for students who are dedicated to joining this noble, service-driven profession.

Congratulation on 60 years! I am a graduate of ISU nursing program class of 1996. As an African American male, I was among the first. I love the diversity that's displayed in the program, from the instructors to the students admitted. I'm very proud to have graduated from such a solid program. No matter where my career has taken me over the years, I always feel prepared going in, and feel that I have something of value to offer to the organization. Many wishes for 60+ in the future.

Celebrating 60 years of Nursing Leadership

In 2016, the Idaho State University School of Nursing is celebrating a diamond anniversary milestone: 60 years of graduating professional nurses in Idaho. These graduates have cared for Idaho citizens and patients in many other states and countries. They serve in every community and every care setting, bringing leadership, developing patient education programs, and enhancing clinical outcomes. These contributions to the betterment of healthcare and to the health status of Idahoans are significant.

We invite every graduate of the ISU School of Nursing and the many friends of our school to donate at least $60 in honor of these important 60 years. Every gift made to the School of Nursing 60 for 60 Campaign will be added toward an endowed scholarship in honor of the 60th Anniversary.

ISU School of Nursing

As we prepare to celebrate the many contributions that have been made by graduates over the past 60 years, we look to the future and to ways we can further support the School of Nursing and its growth. ISU’s School of Nursing is a top-ranked school within the Division of Health Sciences that has been preparing Baccalaureate nurse leaders since 1956 and graduate nursing education since 1982. Today it offers the only Ph.D. in nursing degree program in Idaho, in addition to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Advanced Registered Nursing Practice education includes preparation in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

Why are endowments important?

An endowment fund is a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding. Endowment assets are invested. Each year, a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund’s purpose, and any earnings in excess of this distribution are used to build the fund’s market value. In this way, an endowment fund can grow and provide support for its designated purpose in perpetuity. When an endowment fund is established, it creates a permanent legacy of support for Idaho State University.

ISU is a recognized as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS. Gifts made to Idaho State University are deductible at the highest limits allowed for federal income or estate tax purposes.
